Sometimes, the greatest breakthroughs come after the hardest battles that we go through. You may have faced tough times in your life that you felt like giving up. Maybe you did give up or quit. Does that mean the journey is over? NO!

2 Kings 2:1-14 (Elijah Taken up to Heaven and Elisha picks up the Mantle)

I. Every Step Counts - The progress isn’t alway easy or simple, but Faithfulness is a progress.

II. The Journey Requires Closeness - Even though this was something Elijah could not give to Elisha, God saw Elisha’s faithfulness to honor it

III. The Breakthrough in Obedience - As they were walking a chariot of fire led by horses of fire appeared, and because Elisha was walking so close beside Elijah that it separated them.

IV. Take Up the Mantle - The same mantle that Elijah had hidden his face in shame is the same one that he used to anoint and call Elisha, who would later ask and receive a double portion of the spirit when he picked up the mantle.

V. When Doubt Arises - In a moment when the other disciples and followers of Jesus were looking to Peter for guidance, he tells them that he is going fishing. He was going back to what he knew and did before he started following Jesus. Unlike Cortez, he didn’t burn the ships to leave any chance of being completely sold out.

VI. Go The Distance - To continue to the end, no matter how difficult.
As leaders/disciples, do you have that passion and desire to pursue and walk with others through the good and tough times.

VII. Press toward the Finish Line - In 2 Timothy 4 verse 7, Paul tells Timothy that “I have fought THE good fight, I have finished THE course, I have kept THE faith.

CONCLUSION: If you stay in the race, you’ll step into all that God has for your life.
